Fallen From Grace

Writer's picture: Clifton DavidClifton David

A race crowned, SPLENDID!

A nature seething, AMAZEMENT!

Still present, CORRUPTION!

This race has many wonders,

Alas the prominent one, HARM.

As a child one is naive, BLINDED!

Ignorant of the true nature of mankind.

The veil has not been lifted, BUT OH STOP!

How I wish it never were, ANGST...ANGER...restraint.

A life to live with constant guard...

There, anxiety, a lack of trust in others, NECESSARY!

Doctors wish to aid but are themselves harmed.... HILARIOUS!

Caretakers ought to do harm as well? For it but is all futile.

A help given today, is repaid with harm...?lovely?

Thread with caution, for like snakes they await....HIDDEN!

A sneer hides behind a smile,

A smile harbors much hatred and contempt.

Some act ignorantly in plain view, intentionally!

Favoritism runs rampant, prestige the goal.

A life of success? Oh, it all depends on societal goals...

Money, women, power--the ultimate fulfilment,

A never satisfied ego, a swelled pride.

No wonder it is, that some are isolated, enslaved and bound.

Here a talk of one thing, and this thing is neither that.

Ridiculed for that and this, yet it encompasses their being.

In this world it proves difficult to harbor not hate towards the next,

For it seems as if every human--yes all, are simply loathsome.

Tribalism...buffoonery run rampant, there seems no safe place for individualism.

Here a whisper, there another, GOSSIP--lies and rumors.

Still amongst all there remains a resplendence in humanity--that preciousness which ought to be loved; that quality which draws one person to another, and still another, to one another, that we call community. It remains difficult to draw near to a race that has a reputation for betrayal--still harder to trust a populace that seems double-faced. Experience with society leads to a dissociative state--where one constantly guards the self, for who is a friend and who is a foe? When both resemble each other; a friend and foe both send their regards, both support, both show their interest--it then seems understandable when some ignore others...but careful to not go down that road, for to do such is to become nothing more than what one hates.

The truth is neither hidden, nor shown, it is discovered.

The nature is instable, UNKNOWABLE!

There remain many things which anger us,

Injustice, war, murder--a lack of heart.

To notice these is to be aware of their place within.

For each has a capacity for evil, POTENTIAL!

Which can be actualized, THUS,

To notice evil in another, ought to bring thoughts of self,

For you too harbor that same tendency, favoritism, greed and the like.

To notice evil is a call to drive it out, first from within,

Next stop, the outer.

Mankind is like children,

More like a perforated vase,

All acts come about from a need, or

Therefore, take caution, heal! but be aware,

Serve but be vigilant, for there are some who wish nothing more,

Than to watch the world burn.
